That said, 6.0 is supposed to be the 'end' of the main arc that's driven the game since 1.0 so it's as good a time as any? It feels like they will always need more staff, though. The official line on when 14 is ending is "when it stops making money," and even then they'd probably wind it down and find a way to transition to offline like is currently going on with 11, because it'd be weird for a whole final fantasy game to just suddenly not be available. The last thing SE needs is another 5 or 6 year fiasco trying to get FFXVI together. Really, I can't think of anyone at SE I'd trust to helm the next mainline FF title except Yoshida, given how he's proven his ability to manage a massive project under strict time limits. I recall there being some speculation that Yoshida'll move on to a new project after 6.x is complete, though I doubt FFXIV will completely wrap up by then. ![]()
